Not sure who the modeler is that built the example. Notes on the contest entry card mentioned rebuilding the ballast tanks with ends of bombs or drop tanks, and also mention that hatch handles were scratch built.
Our kits of the CSS Hunley have always been the most accurate available, and now we’ve used recent discoveries from the actual wreck to make our 1/72nd scale kit even more accurate. More display options, figures, and a section of deck have also been included to make this kit an even better value.
All details have been added to the Hunley page HERE.

Hi Folks! I am about to release a brand spanking new kit. It is the 1/72nd scale Union Submarine “Alligator”. The finished model is about 8 1/2″ long overall, and includes the parts needed to build the boat in its early version (shown here) or the later version with a propeller and modified rudder. The kit also includes the Diver Figure shown.
This model is very easy to build. When I built the prototype it only took me a few short hours. It actually surprised me. I am currently finishing up the instructions and hope to have it done in the next week. The MSRP will be $ 49.95 plus the shipping. Within the next few days we’ll have the product page uploaded and will be ready to ship.
Cheers, and Thanks for looking in!
